The Nancy Raffle!

Last week, when I hosted the September Literary Road Trip virtual bookclub, the topic of the "Nancy Raffle" came up. I had shared the news of this new raffle in my Friday letters, but it became clear that I should explain this in a blog post, especially for anyone who might discover Books Inside Boxes in the future.

Nancy is my chosen family. She was my mom's best friend and has been in my life, since I was in elementary school. She has been with me for most of my major life milestones, including by my side when my mom passed away. She is fun, kind, and compassionate. She is the type of person who spent time with me when I was a kid and made me feel seen and heard. She was always including me in the cool things she was doing and always came to my school events. I think of her as a bonus aunt and I can count on her for anything. I love her.

In August, I hosted a few raffles for my 25th box milestone. Nancy saw my raffles through Instagram and wanted to support Books Inside Boxes. She didn't want a book box herself, but thought it would be fun to give me the cost of a subscription to spread a little joy every month.

I came up with the "Nancy Raffle," which as long as she wishes to host it, will be held on the first of each month. Anyone who makes a purchase in the Books Inside Boxes store, including current Literary Road Trip Subscribers, will be entered into the raffle. On the first of the month, I will do an Instagram Live and pick a winner out of names in a mason jar.

The winner will have a choice of prizes -

1. The can pick a book box from the Books Inside Boxes store. The box can be sent to them or they can elect to send it as a gift to anyone residing in the United States.

   
   

2. They can have a $40.00 e-gift card to Bookshop.org. Bookshop.org is an online booksite that gives a portion of their sales to indie bookstores, a core part of my mission with Books Inside Boxes.

   
   

3. If they are a current Literary Road Trip Subscriber, I can pause a payment on their account to make an upcoming road trip box a free box.

I held the first "Nancy Raffle" on October 1st, which included all who made a purchase in the month of August. The upcoming November raffle, will include all people who shopped in October. It is possible to have multiple raffle entries if you make multiple purchases. For example, if you're already a road trip subscriber and you buy a box in the store, you will have two entries. If a subscription bundle is purchased, the buyer will get entries in the months that their bundle boxes are sent.
