Our February indie bookstore partner is Northshire Bookstore. The original Northshire Bookstore location opened in 1976 in Manchester Center, Vermont. The second location opened in Saratoga Springs, New York in 2013. We worked with the Saratoga Springs location to plan February's New York box.
The original location was started by a husband and wife team, Barbara and Ed Morrow. This family owned buisness has undergone several changes of ownership and location moves. The current owners are a trio of book loving sisters with deep ties to Vermont. Northshire Bookstore is one of the largest bookstores in New England.
Northshire Bookstore sells new, used, and rare books, as well as gift items and vinyl. They host many author events and even have their own subscription program, called Northshire Selects. Subscribers to Northshire Selects will receive a handselected book each month from their preferered genere. These are new release titles and the program is available for all ages, infant to adult. Northshire Selects is a wonderful way to support an indie bookstore and to receive a new release surprise each month.
Customers can be a Northshire Bookstore "Angel." The store accepts monetary donations for their Event Angel program, which raises money to host children's authors in local schools and to give children copies of the visiting author's books. Click here to donate to this very worthy cause. Book Angel is a lovely holiday tradition that Northshire Bookstore has been hosting for decades. It's a way for customers to purchase books for needy children in the community, ensuring that the kids have a new book of their own for the holidays. Northshire Bookstore partners with the local school system to identify the children who would benefit and to make this holiday tradition a success.
