July 2025 Literary Road Trip Box: Maine

Let’s head to the state that supplies over 90% of our country’s blueberries and lobsters. This state is nicknamed the “Pine Tree State” and approximately 89% of the state is forest. This state is the birthplace of Stephen King and Elizabeth Strout. …for July, we are visiting Maine!

Linda Holmes’ Flying Solo is our featured book. On the verge of turning forty and having just canceled her wedding, Laurie returns to her hometown to settle her great-aunt’s estate. Set in the fictional town of Calcasset, this story has rekindled romance, family secrets, and a mysterious wooden duck. Intrigued? Cozy up with this great summer read.

Our indie bookstore partner for July is The Booktenders. Located in York, husband and wife team, Michelle and Rick, opened their store in 2022.  We’ve included their logo sticker in this month’s box.

Taste the state with a 9.5 oz jar of Wild Maine Blueberry Jam from Pemberton’s Gourmet Foods. Based in Auburn, Maine, this company has been making regional small-batch products since 2002. Try some Jam on your next piece or toast or stack of pancakes.

A bit silly, but thematically on-point, we have a pair of Lobster Lollipops from Melville Candy Company. Melville is in Massachusetts, but this batch of lollipops was created as a fundraiser for the Gulf of Maine Lobster Foundation to raise money to protect Maine’s coast. A feel-good treat.

Send a book recommendation to a friend, with a four pack of postcards from Sunshine Studio. Sunshine Studio is in Alabama and it’s a one-woman design company run by owner, Paige Seegmiller that opened in 2019.

All Literary Road Trip boxes are limited edition and shipping within the United States is included in the purchased price. A limited number of Maine boxes are available for single-sale purchase. Visit our store to see our current selection of themed book boxes and stickers.
