July 2024 Literary Road Trip Box: Colorado

July 2024 Literary Road Trip Box from Books Inside Boxes

I'm super excited to share with you the July 2024 Literary Road Trip Box, themed to the state of Colorado. This box marks the twelth box, an entire year of Literary Road Trip Boxes. It's also very special, as Colorado is the state where I currently live. My husband and I have been here for nearly five years and we absolutely love it. It's a gorgeous state with a stunning landscape, kind people, and loads of history.

The July feature book is Kali Fajardo- Anstine's Woman of Light. This award-winning, Denver based novel follows generations of the Lopez family. The protagonist, Luz, is a teenager growing up in the 1930's and she has been gifted with the ability to see the future, but also to know past. Woman of Light is a beautiful story of family, heritage, and finding ones way in the world. It also has a very strong sense of place, making it the ideal book for the Colorado box!

Tattered Cover is the July indie bookstore partner. Tattered Cover opened in 1971 and has solidified its status as one of the most well-known bookstores in the country. Tattered Cover is very close to my heart, as I've been a bookseller with the company for nearly three years. Books Inside Boxes was created out of my experience as a bookseller and my love for bookstores. For the July box reveal, I filmed a tour of the Aspen Grove location where i'm based. Click here to watch. I will share a more extensive blog post about Tattered Cover later in the month. The July box includes the Tattered Cover branded notebook with pen and a store sticker.

Beat the summer heat with a slushi. Pikes Peak Lemonade Co is located in Colorado, Springs. This female-owned business opened in 2015. I visited their store when I picked up the slush mixes and it is absolutely adorable. They offer lemonade with a variety of syrup combinations to create unique flavors. I enjoyed a cup of the blackberry lemonade and it was fantastic! The dragon fruit slush can be made as a cocktail or a mocktail, just add either white wine or grape juice.

To keep with the wine theme, I included a package of twenty book-themed cocktail napkins from Soiree Sisters. This Denver based company opened in 2021 and was founded by a pair of sisters who have a love of entertaining.

The limited edition Colorado box is available now. As of writing this blog post, I only have one left in stock. If this sounds like a box that you need to have, act fast before it's gone!
