February Literary Road Trip Box: New York

Contents of February 2025 Literary Road Trip box from Books Inside Boxes

Our 2025 February Literary Road Trip box takes us to one of the most vibrant states in the U.S. and home to the "City That Never Sleeps"...New York! This state holds a special place in my heart, because I briefly attended Bard College located in Annandale-on-the-Hudson. Ar Bard, I was able to enjoy the beauty of upstate New York, but I was just few hours away from the excitement of New York City. New York City is one of my favorite places in the entire world.

The featured book is Jenni L. Walsh's Ace, Marvel, Spy. This historical fiction book is about tennis champion Alice Marble, who worked at Marvel comics and served as a spy in the second world war. Marble's story leaps off the page with Walsh's snappy dialogue and rich descriptions. This is a fascinating story about a strong female that many people might not have heard of.

Our February indie bookstore partner is Northshire Bookstore. We worked with their Saratoga Springs location, but they also have second location in Manchester Center, Vermont. The original store opened in 1976 in Vermont, with the New York location opening in 2013. Northshire Bookstore is one of the largest booksellers in New England. We have included their store postcard in the February box.

Enjoy an iconic New York food; the black and white cookie. The origins of this cookie are believed to be from 1902 created in Glaser's Bake Shop. We've included an oversized pair of cookies from Joey's Fine Food. This father/son bakery has been handcrafting their black and white cookies since 1984.

As a nod to Alice Marble's work on the Wonder Woman comics, a Wonder Woman sticker. This sticker is from Square Deal Recordings & Supplies, a record company and gift supplier from San Luis Obispo, California.

Remember the 90's rom-com You've Got Mail? Meg Ryan's character played Kathleen Kelly,  an owner of an indie children's bookstore who unwittingly falls in love (via aol emails) with Tom Hank's character, the owner of Fox Books, a Barnes and Noble-esq mega chain set to put Kelly's store out of buisness. The February box includes a key chain with the address to the fictional children's indie, "The Shop Around the Corner." This key chain comes from The 3 Sister's Design Co, a small company located in Bradenton, Florida.

The New York box sold-out to subscribers during the presale phase. Subscribe now to reserve upcoming Literary Road Trip boxes and lock-in the lowest price.
