Basketball, the birthplace of "The King of Pop," and the Indianapolis 500....our April Box takes us to Indiana! Nicknamed The Hoosier State, Indiana was the 19th state to join the union and is famous for being one of the most important areas for archeology in the United States due to various Native American tribes who lived in the area.
The featured book for April is Karen Joy Fowler's We are All Completely Beside Ourselves. The story is told from the perspective of college student Rosemary, who reflects on events in her childhood growing up in Bloomington. Rosemary's family is quite unconventional and there is a very surprising twist mid-book. This award-winning novel is both hilarious and heartbreaking, a story of family dynamics, especially between siblings.
The last Saturday in April is Independent Bookstore Day! It's a really fun day to visit your favorite indie bookstore, as many host special events and offer giveaways. This month, I worked with not one, but two indie bookstores. Pete & Freddy's Pages Aplenty is located in Mentone, Indiana, and Books & Whimsy is located in La Porte. Each store sent their stickers and bookmarks for me to include in this month's box.
I love mustard and was thrilled to discover Midwest Fresh. Midwest Fresh is located in Marion, Indiana and it was started by chef Kevin Grider. The April box includes a 13 ounce jar of their Bourbon Barrel Mustard. This mustard is delicious on both meats and vegetables. Midwest Fresh also sent a chicken salad recipe that has been included in the box.
Take your love of books to the kitchen with a "Literary Tastes" cotton dish towel from The Unemployed Philosophers Guild. This vibrant towel includes eighteen food/cooking related quotes from famous books.
The limited edition April Literary Road Trip Indiana box is available for purchase in our store. Shipping within the United States is included in the purchase price. Book boxes make thoughtful and easy gifts. If you're purchasing this as a present, please indicate a personalized note that you'd like me to include in the box.
